The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has recognized 156 SUNY Cortland winter and spring sports student-athletes on its All-Academic and Commissioner's List teams for the 2009-10 season.
Athletes earn a spot on the All-Academic LIst by recording at least a 3.3 grade point average during the most recent semester and are chosen to the Commissioner's List if they have at least a cumulative 3.3 grade point average over the past three semesters combined.

02.26 | Men's Ice Hockey
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has named Cortland senior Gerard Heinz (Kings Park/New York Apple Core) as a second team all-conference selection. With the honor, Heinz becomes the first Red Dragon to earn all-conference accolades four times. He was a first team honoree as a freshman and sophomore and was tabbed as a second team selection as a junior. Cortland’s only other three-time honoree was Matt Johnson, who was a first team selection from 1989-91.
Heinz was the third-leading scorer among defenseman with 12 points on three goals and nine assists in 16 league games this past season. He finished third on the team in overall scoring with 20 points on five goals and a team-high 15 assists. For his career, Heinz scored 76 points on 17 goals and 59 assists in 99 games.
02.20 | Men's Ice Hockey
BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Sean O’Malley scored two goals as Brockport posted a 4-2 victory over visiting Cortland in a SUNYAC game. The Golden Eagles (13-11-1, 7-8-1 SUNYAC) will face Potsdam in the league tournament quarterfinals on Tuesday. Cortland completes the season with a 7-18 overall record and a 4-12 conference mark.
Freshmen Mike Lysyj (Hillsborough, NJ/South Shore Kings) and Chris Kaleta (Angola/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) scored goals for Cortland and junior Dan Jewell (Medford/National Sports Academy) made 35 saves.

GENESEO, N.Y. – Geneseo scored three goals in the first four minutes of the game and the Knights went on to defeat Cortland, 7-3, in a SUNYAC contest. David Arduin led Geneseo with two goals and one assist and Adrian Rubeniuk made 38 saves.
Corey John (Albany/SUNY Plattsburgh) and Jarrett Gold (East Setauket/NY Bobcats) paced Cortland with a goal and an assist each. Alex Arthur (Portland, ME/Boston Bulldogs) scored once and Gerard Heinz (Kings Park/NY Apple Core Jr. A) assisted on two goals.

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Caylin Relkoff made 41 saves and Matt Salmon notched a pair of goals to lead the Morrisville St. men's hockey team to a 5-0 win versus Cortland Friday night in SUNYAC action at the Morrisville IcePlex. The Red Dragons fell to 7-16 overall and 4-10 in the conference with the loss, while the Mustangs improved to 7-14 and 4-9 and tied the Red Dragons in the league standings.
Freshman Doug Danzi (Nesconset/New Jersey Rockets) started in goal for Cortland, allowing four goals and making nine saves in the opening 26 minutes, 51 seconds before giving way to sophomore Mike Reilly (New York/Bismarck Bobcats), who stopped 22 shots and surrendered one goal over the final 33:09.

OSWEGO, N.Y. – Luke Moodie scored two goals and added an assist as the nationally top-ranked Oswego men's hockey team skated past Cortland, 5-2, Friday night in SUNYAC action. The Red Dragons dropped to 7-15 overall and 4-9 in the conference, and Oswego increased its winning streak to 20 games to improve to 21-1 and 13-0.
Sophomore Jake Saville (Bellingham, WA/Marquette Rangers) and freshman Chris Kaleta (Angola/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) scored goals for the Red Dragons. Senior Gerard Heinz (Kings Park/ NY Apple Core), sophomores Joey Christiano (Rochester/Port Hope Predators) and Corey John (Albany/SUNY Plattsburgh) and freshman Dave Williams (Mississauga, ON/Port Hope Predators) each recorded an assist. Sophomore Brittan Kuhlman (Elkhorn, NE/Winnipeg Saints) started in goal and made 17 saves through the first two periods. Freshman Doug Danzi (Nesconset/New Jersey Rockets) stopped 15 shots over the final 20 minutes.

CORTLAND, N.Y. - Freshman Brett Waters (Uxbridge, ON/Markham Waxers) scored a power-play goal with four minutes, 47 seconds remaining in the third period to lead the Potsdam men's hockey team to a 3-1 win over Cortland Saturday night in SUNYAC action. The Red Dragons dropped to 7-14 overall and 4-8 in the conference, while the Bears improved to 8-10-2 and 4-7-1.
Senior Gerard Heinz (Kings Park/NY Apple Core) and freshman Mike Lysyj (Hillsborough, NJ/South Shore Kings) scored Cortland's goals. Juniors Justin Porpora (Hauppauge/NY Bobcats) and Jarrett Gold (East Setauket/NY Bobcats) and sophomores Ryan Markell (Columbus, OH/Ohio St.) and Joey Christiano (Rochester/Port Hope Predators) each registered an assist. Freshman goalie Doug Danzi (Nesconset/New Jersey Rockets) made 42 saves.

Junior Jarrett Gold (East Setauket/NY Bobcats) scored his team-high 13th goal of the season for the Red Dragons (7-13 overall, 4-7 SUNYAC), and senior Justin Porpora (Hauppauge/NY Bobcats) and sophomore Alex Arthur (Portland, ME/Boston Bulldogs) each recorded an assist. Sophomore goalie Mike Reilly (New York/Bismarck Bobcats) stopped 23 shots and allowed three goals before being pulled for an extra skater late in the game.

CORTLAND, N.Y. - Sophomore goalie Kody Van Rentergem (Leduc, AB/Brooks Jr. A) stopped all 21 shots he faced and junior Jordan Oye (Richmond, BC/Brampton Jr. A) led the offense with two goals as the Fredonia St. men's hockey team defeated Cortland, 5-0, in SUNYAC action Friday night at Alumni Arena. With the loss, the Red Dragons fell to 6-12 overall and 3-6 in the conference. The Blue Devils posted their eighth consecutive win and improved to 14-4 and 6-3.
Sophomore goalie Brittan Kuhlman (Elkhorn, NE/Winnipeg Saints) turned aside 38 shots for Cortland.
