The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has recognized 156 SUNY Cortland winter and spring sports student-athletes on its All-Academic and Commissioner's List teams for the 2009-10 season.
Athletes earn a spot on the All-Academic LIst by recording at least a 3.3 grade point average during the most recent semester and are chosen to the Commissioner's List if they have at least a cumulative 3.3 grade point average over the past three semesters combined.

05.29 | Men's Track and Field
BEREA, OHIO - The SUNY Cortland 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Eric Banks (Westbury), sophomore Zac Farnham-Haskell (Essex Junction, VT/Essex), junior Phill Wiltshire (Vestal) and junior Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) earned All-America honors with a seventh-place time of 3:15.09 at the NCAA Div. III Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The quartet is the first 4x400-meter relay unit in school history to earn All-America honors.
In addition on Saturday, freshman P.J. Flynn (Valhalla) placed 16th in the triple jump with a distance of 13.78 meters (45' 2.5").
Cortland tied for 74th place out of 85 teams that scored at the meet with two points.

05.28 | Men's Track and Field
BEREA, OHIO - Cortland junior Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) finished in 15th place in the preliminary round of the 400-meter dash at the NCAA Div. III Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Baldwin-Wallace College.
Bisceglia finished in 49.18 seconds and was not one of the eight qualifiers in the field of 17 for Saturday's finals in the event.

05.27 | Men's Track and Field
BEREA, OHIO - The SUNY Cortland 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Eric Banks (Westbury), sophomore Zac Farnham-Haskell (Essex Junction, VT/Essex), junior Phill Wiltshire (Vestal) and junior Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) qualified for the finals with a school-record time of 3:14.08 during Day 1 of the NCAA Div. III Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The Red Dragon quartet tied for the seventh best time in a field of 15 teams. They broke their own school record of 3:14.20 set earlier this month. Cortland will be one eight teams competing in the finals Saturday at 4:55 p.m. and just by finishing the race will earn All-America honors with a top-eight finish.

Cortland will compete in three events at the NCAA Div. III Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, May 27-29.
Junior Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) will compete in the 400-meter dash preliminaries on Friday at 4:25 p.m. The finals in the event are set for Saturday at 2:20 p.m. Bisceglia was an All-American in the 400 meters at the indoor nationals this past March with an eighth-place finish.
Bisceglia will also compete in the 4x400-meter relay along with freshman Eric Banks (Westbury), sophomore Zac Farnham-Haskell (Essex Junction, VT/Essex) and junior Phill Wiltshire (Vestal). The preliminaries are Thursday at 7:25 p.m. and the finals are Saturday at 4:55 p.m. The Red Dragon quartet enters the meet with the fifth-best qualifying time of 3:14.20, a school record they set at the Cornell Invitational May 1.
Freshman P.J. Flynn (Valhalla) will be part of the triple jump competition on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. The trials and finals for the event are held on the same day.

05.20 | Men's Track and Field
The Cortland men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the Oneonta State May Meet, a last-chance meet to qualify for the NCAA Div. III Championships. The national meet will be held May 27-29 in Berea, Ohio.
On the men's side, senior Kyle O'Brien (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) improved his NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with an effort of 9:11.86. O'Brien is a two-time All-American in the event. In the women's meet, sophomore Alyson Dalton (Sherrill/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill) improved on her provisional NCAA time in the 10,000 meters with her performance of 36:33.96.

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Senior Kyle O’Brien (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) won his third consecutive league title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and Cortland claimed an additional three individual and one relay crown at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The College at Brockport hosted the two-day meet.
The Red Dragons finished second out of eight schools in the final team standings. Geneseo won the league title with 213 points, followed by Cortland (148.5), Brockport (143.5), Buffalo St. (83), Fredonia (77), Plattsburgh (65), Oneonta (58) and Oswego (14).

ITHACA, N.Y. – The 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Eric Banks (Westbury), sophomore Zak Farnham-Haskell (Essex Junction, VT/Essex), junior Phill Wiltshire (Vestal) and junior Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) broke a school record and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Div. III Championships with its performance at the Cornell University Outdoor Invitational.
The relay finished first in 3:14.20, breaking the previous school record of 3:14.56 set by Bisceglia, Adam Groesbeck, J.J. Riese and Matt Bieringer in 2008.

04.25 | Men's Track and Field
ITHACA, N.Y. – Five Cortland athletes recorded top-five finishes during the Red Dragons’ competition at the Cornell University Big Red Outdoor Invitational. There was no team scoring at the event, which featured Division I schools Cornell, Buffalo, Colgate and Binghamton among its participants.
Senior Darnell Owens (Fallsburg) was the second-place finisher in the 100-meter dash in 11.13 seconds and freshman P.J. Flynn (Valhalla) placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 14.13 meters (46’ 4.25”), seven centimeters shy of the NCAA provisional qualifying standard. Freshman Shawn Wilson (Seneca Falls/Mynderse Academy) finished fourth in the javelin at 44.74 meters (146’ 9”) and junior Phill Wiltshire (Vestal) was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.01 seconds. Junior Gino Bisceglia (Norwood/Norwood-Norfolk) was fifth in the 200-meter dash (22.39) in addition to being sixth in the 100-meter dash (11.26).

PHILADELPHIA, PA. – Cortland senior Kyle O’Brien (Monroe/Monroe-Woodbury) finished in 12th place and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Div. III Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Thursday night at the Penn Relays.
O’Brien, the lone Division III runner and one of only two non-Division I competitors in the 18-entrant field, finished the race in 9:15.29. Princeton’s Donn Cabral won with a time of 8:48.92. O’Brien is a two-time Division III All-American in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. He finished third nationally in 2009 and fourth in 2008. O’Brien is the lone Cortland male competing at the Penn Relays this spring.
