For the second straight year, the SUNY Cortland women's volleyball team will be participating in the Dig Pink National Breast Cancer Awareness Rally. This year's event will take place when the Red Dragons host SUNYAC Eastern Division pool play Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23-24, at Corey Gymnasium.
Five schools – Cortland, New Paltz, Oneonta, Plattsburgh and Potsdam – will be competing during the two-day event. Matches begin 3 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Cortland is one of many schools nationwide promoting breast health education in the community as well as raising funds to help eradicate breast cancer. Among the fundraising initiatives will be sales of pink ribbons, candy and SUNYAC Dig Pink T-Shirts, along with a silent auction. Money raised will benefit the The Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund of CNY, Inc.
