SUNY Cortland senior defensive end Evan Wyler (Warwick/Warwick Valley) has been selected to the D3football.com national “Team of the Week,” presented by Scoutware, for the week ending Oct. 25. The team consists of the best performers by position among all Division III schools during the week.
Wyler made a team-high and career-high 13 tackles, including 10 solo stops, in Cortland’s 12-10 victory at William Paterson last Saturday. He also recorded four quarterback hurries. The Red Dragon defense prevented the Pioneers from entering Cortland territory the entire second half to preserve the win.
Wyler ranks second on Cortland’s squad this fall with 46 tackles through seven games. He has registered 11 tackles for lost yardage, including 6.5 sacks. Both of those figures are also second-best on the team.
Cortland has earned “Team of the Week” honors six times this season. The Red Dragons play their final regular-season home game this Saturday, Oct. 31, versus The College of New Jersey at 1 p.m.
