Former Cortland relief pitcher J.J. Potrikus has signed a professional contract with the Gary (Ind.) SouthShore RailCats and will join the team for its 2010 Spring Training camp in May.
Potrikus, a native of North Syracuse, N.Y., played two seasons for the Red Dragons from 2008-09 after transferring from Division I Siena College. In two years, he was a combined 4-2 with nine saves, 46 strikeouts and 34 hits allowed in 41 and two-third innings pitched.
The RailCats play in the independent Northern League. They won league titles in both 2005 and 2007 and have advanced to five straight Championship Series.
