SUNY Cortland senior punter Kyle Peterson (Montrose/Hendrick Hudson) has been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Special Teams Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 8.

Peterson averaged 38.5 yards per punt on four attempts in Cortland’s 56-42 victory at Brockport last Saturday. Three of his four punts pinned Brockport inside its 20-yard line, including two in the fourth quarter that were downed inside the 5-yard line.

For the season, Peterson is averaging 38.8 yards per punt. Of his 41 punts, 14 have stuck teams inside their 20-yard line, compared to only three touchbacks, and six of his punts have traveled 50 or more yards.

Cortland (7-2) wraps up the regular season on Nov. 14 with the annual Cortaca Jug game at Ithaca College. Game time is noon.
