D.J. Romano Picked as NJAC Defensive Player of the Week

SUNY Cortland sophomore cornerback D.J. Romano (Newburgh/Newburgh Free Academy) has been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 22.

Romano made a team-high 11 tackles, seven solo, in Cortland's 34-20 loss at St. John Fisher in the ECAC Division III Northwest Bowl. Romano also led the Red Dragons with three pass breakups.

For the season, Romano finished with 54 tackles and team-bests of four interceptions and eight pass breakups in 10 games. Cortland completed the season with a 7-4 record, including a third-place mark of 7-2 in the 10-team NJAC.
