For the second consecutive week, SUNY Cortland senior defensive end Evan Wyler (Warwick/Warwick Valley) has been selected to the D3football.com national “Team of the Week,” presented by Scoutware. His latest honor is for the week ending Nov. 1. The team consists of the best performers by position among all Division III schools during the week.
Wyler led Cortland with eight tackles, all solo, and had four quarterback hurries in the Red Dragons' 30-7 victory over The College of New Jersey at home last Saturday. His four tackles for losses included one sack.
Cortland limited the Lions to 190 yards of total offense, including 76 rushing yards on 35 attempts. TCNJ entered the game averaging 38.3 points and 434.9 yards of total offense per game.
Wyler is Cortland’s second-leading tackler this season with 54 stops, and he leads the Red Dragons with 34 solo tackles and 13 quarterback hurries. He shares the team lead with 15 tackles for losses and two forced fumbles and ranks second with 7.5 sacks.
Cortland travels to Brockport on Saturday, Nov. 7, to complete its New Jersey Athletic Conference schedule and will play at Ithaca College on Nov. 14 in the annual “Cortaca Jug” game.
