Justin Autera (Mahopac) has been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) football Offensive Rookie of the Week for the week ending November 1.
Autera rushed for 67 yards on only five carries in Cortland's 30-7 win over visiting The College of New Jersey last Saturday. He averaged 13.4 yards per attempt, with a long run of 29 yards, and caught one pass.
Autera also turned in a strong effort on special teams with four punt returns for 98 yards. His 51-yard punt return to the Lions' 7-yard line set up a Cortland touchdown drive and his 31-yard return to the TCNJ 29-yard line led to a field goal, both in the second quarter.
Cortland is 6-2 both overall and in the NJAC this fall. The Red Dragons conclude league play on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Brockport and finish the regular season Nov. 14 at Ithaca College in the annual “Cortaca Jug” game.
