SUNY Cortland senior outside hitter
Michelle Gaufman (Wantagh/MacArthur) has been chosen as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 1.
Gaufman averaged 3.2 kills and 2.6 digs per set during a 5-0 week for the Red Dragons. She opened the week Wednesday with 13 kills in a 3-0 win at Oswego, in the process becoming Cortland's career kills leader (she currently has 1,790).
On Friday and Saturday, she was named to the all-tournament team at the Skidmore Invitational after helping Cortland share the tournament title with a 4-0 record. She totaled 20 kills and 12 digs in a five-set win over host Skidmore and 14 kills in a sweep of Ramapo.
Cortland (23-11) has won 11 of its last 12 matches. The Red Dragons will face Geneseo in the SUNYAC quarterfinals Thursday, Nov. 5, at 5 p.m. at New Paltz.
