Katie Double (Farmington/Victor H.S.) turned aside 26 shots as the Cortland women's ice hockey team blanked Chatham, 2-0, Saturday afternoon for its second consecutive shutout of the Cougars. The Red Dragons upped their record to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the ECAC West. Chatham fell to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the conference.

Maggie Giamo (Orchard Park/RIT) connected for her second score of the season for Cortland. Senior
Nicole Ruddy (Utica/Mohawk Valley Herricanes) and sophomore
Ashley Meyer (New York/Sound Shore Warriors) each chipped in with an assist.
Senior goalie Brenn Scott (Parker, CO/NAHA) made 12 saves for the Cougars.
Rossi gave the Red Dragons a 1-0 lead, 12 minutes, 44 seconds into the game when she possessed a loose puck and scored from a sharp angle on the right side. Double kept it a 1-0 game through the first 20 minutes as she stopped 12 shots. Giamo made it 2-0 at 13:43 of the second period on the power play, one-timing a loose puck in front as she was falling to the ice.
In the third period, the Cougars pressed the action, out shooting Cortland, 11-1, but couldn't find a way to beat Double. Cortland killed off three power plays to start the period. Chatham then pulled Scott at the 18:29 mark for an extra skater and went on the power play just 11 seconds later. Even with a two-player advantage, Double was able to keep the Cougars off the scoreboard and preserve her first career shutout.
