Cortland senior punter Kyle Peterson (Montrose/Hendrick Hudson) has been chosen to the 2009 ESPN the Magazine College Division District I All-Academic Football First Team. The team includes Division II and III schools from New York and New England and is chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Peterson was eligible for Academic All-America honors by virtue of his first-team all-district selection, but he was not chosen to the national team.

Peterson is a recreation major with a 3.35 cumulative grade point average entering the 2009 fall semester. A two-time All-New Jersey Athletic Conference selection, Peterson averaged 38.5 yards per punt. Of his 52 punts, 22 pinned opponents inside the 20-yard line versus only three touchbacks.
