CORTLAND, N.Y. – Senior
Danielle Torre (Massapequa) scored four goals and added three assists, becoming the 20th Red Dragons to eclipse 100 career goals, as the Cortland women's lacrosse team defeated Potsdam, 15-6, in the final regular-season game for both teams. The Red Dragons improved to 11-6 overall and 8-1 in the SUNYAC, while the Bears fell to 7-8 and 2-7. Cortland faces Oneonta on Friday in a conference semifinal game at Buffalo St.

Freshman Carly Richards (Niskayuna) led the Bears with three goals. Senior Allie Nettles (Carthage), junior Nakia Doldo (Watertown/JCC) and freshman Maribeth Simmons (Clinton, CT) each scored once, while junior Molly Lehman-Lewis (Canandaigua) registered an assist. Freshman goalie Sarah Sweeney (Spencerport) made four saves in the first half, and freshman Kaci Milligan (Liverpool/Bishop Ludden) recorded five saves in the second half.
Richards gave the Bears a 1-0 lead at 25:48, but Fritz tied the game just 13 seconds later. Shost, Abbott and Kollar then strung together goals and Cortland led, 4-1. Richards cut the score to 4-2, but Torre connected for three straight goals, the second of the run her 100th career score, to put the Red Dragons ahead 7-2. Simmons and Kollar traded goals to end the half with Cortland ahead, 8-3.
Cortland took control of the game with the first four goals of the second half and led 12-3 with 21:24 remaining. Doldo then made an end-to-end rush and scored her first of the season to stop the run at 20:11. Shost, Gallagher and Lynch scored Cortland's last three goals, and Richards and Nettles netted Potsdam's last two scores for the 15-6 final.
