ALBANY, N.Y. - New York State Governor David Paterson honored members of SUNY Cortland's 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse championship squad at a reception in the state capitol on Tuesday, June 9.

Cortland third-year head coach Steve Beville and some of the Red Dragon players were able to attend the event, which also honored Division II men's champion C.W. Post and Division II women's champion Adelphi University. The Cortland contingent, which included school president Dr. Erik J. Bitterbaum, also met with state Assemblyman Gary Finch and Assemblywoman Barbara Lifton and Senator James Seward at the reception. Finch, Lifton and Seward represent all or portions of Cortland County.

Cortland won its second NCAA Division III title in four seasons with a 9-7 victory over Gettysburg College on Sunday, May 24, at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
