BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – Playing its fourth match in three days, Cortland blanked Brockport, 9-0, in a SUNYAC contest. The Red Dragons upped their record to 5-1 overall and 3-1 in league play with the victory.

The tightest match of the morning came at second doubles when freshman Loraine Jelinek (Homer/home schooled) and sophomore Gabriela Medina (Rock Hill/Monticello) rallied to win, 9-8. Jelinek and Medina trailed 8-7 before winning the next game to force a tiebreaker, which they won 7-3.

Sophomores Stephanie DiCapua (East Quogue/Westhampton Beach) and Alyssa Tretter (Batavia) posted an 8-2 win at first doubles and sophomores Kristina Lazzaro (Williamsville/Williamsville East) and Alana Sullivan (Stony Point/Albertus Magnus) won 8-3 at third doubles.

All six of Cortland's singles victories came in straight sets, with no opponent winning more than three games in any set. DiCapua improved to 6-0 in singles play this fall with a 6-3, 6-2 win at second singles. Medina won 6-2, 6-0 at third singles, Tretter was a 6-0, 6-0 victor at fourth singles and Sullivan won 6-1, 6-2 at sixth singles, all improving to 5-1 in singles play this season. Jelinek won at first singles, 6-1, 6-2, and Lazzaro was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at fifth singles.

Cortland travels to Ithaca on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. non-league match and will play its first home match of the season Friday at 3:30 p.m. versus league opponent New Paltz.
