AURORA, N.Y. – Cortland players lost only a combined five games in a convincing 9-0 non-league victory at Wells College. The Red Dragons (7-3) won the three doubles matches by 8-2 scores or better, and lost just one game in two of 12 singles sets.
Sophomore Gabriela Medina (Rock Hill/Monticello) won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles and combined with sophomore Kristina Lazzaro (Williamsville/Williamsville East) to win 8-1 at first doubles. Sophomore Alana Sullivan (Stony Point/Albertus Magnus) posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory at second singles and teamed with sophomore Megan Bagg (Lake Placid/The Northwood School) to earn an 8-0 victory at second doubles.
Lazzaro won 6-1, 6-0 at third singles and Bagg was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at fourth singles. Junior Ariel Kelner (Cortlandt Manor/The Masters School) won 6-0, 6-0 at fifth singles and sophomore Amanda Bieglecki (Brewster) won 6-0, 6-0 at sixth singles. Kelner and Bieglecki also won 8-2 at third doubles.
