CORTLAND, N.Y. - Sophomore goalie Kody Van Rentergem (Leduc, AB/Brooks Jr. A) stopped all 21 shots he faced and junior Jordan Oye (Richmond, BC/Brampton Jr. A) led the offense with two goals as the Fredonia St. men's hockey team defeated Cortland, 5-0, in SUNYAC action Friday night at Alumni Arena. With the loss, the Red Dragons fell to 6-12 overall and 3-6 in the conference. The Blue Devils posted their eighth consecutive win and improved to 14-4 and 6-3.

Sophomore goalie Brittan Kuhlman (Elkhorn, NE/Winnipeg Saints) turned aside 38 shots for Cortland.

Freshman Mat Hehr (Sherwood Park, AB/Sherwood Park) contributed a goal and two assists for Fredonia St., while sophomore Bryan Ross (Livonia, MI/Alpena Jr. A) had a goal and an assist and junior Dave Ridos (Hamilton, ON/Stoney Creek Jr. B) scored a goal. Junior Alex Morton (Cannington, ON/Notre Dame Jr. A) recorded two assists and five different players had one assist apiece.

After the teams played a scoreless first period, the Blue Devils took the lead on Hehr's rebound goal at the right side on the power play just one minute, three seconds into the second period. Eight minutes later, the Red Dragons had a 5-on-3 power play for two minutes but failed to capitalize. Oye then made it a 2-0 game at 17:29 of the second when he converted a 2-on-1 with Hehr on a one timer.

Oye pushed the lead to 3-0 after he again successfully finished off a 2-on-1 break with Hehr at 3:25 of the third period after a Cortland turnover. At 8:00, Ross netted the Blue Devils' second power play of the night with a wrist shot from the left face-off circle. Ridos completed the scoring with a backhander at the 15:17 mark.
