TROY, N.Y. – The Cortland women's swimming and diving team finished second out of five schools at the RPI Invitational. The Red Dragons, who had won the team title the previous three years, finished with a score of 553.5 points. RPI won the title with 624.5 points, followed by Cortland, Oneonta (383), William Smith (366) and Skidmore (268).

The meet was also scored as duals between each competing school. Cortland lost to RPI (125.5-117.5) and defeated Oneonta (156-85), William Smith (181-60) and Skidmore (179-57) to improve to 8-4 on the season.

Senior Kristin Barnoski (Stanley/Marcus Whitman) won the 50-yard freestyle (25.20) and 100-yard freestyle (55.58), and senior Taylor Houseman (Rushford/Wellsville) was the 200-yard breaststroke winner (2:30.31).

Senior Krista Bergquist (West Islip), Houseman, sophomore Michelle Seeger (Oneonta) and Barnoski finished first in the 400-yard medley relay (4:09.32). Cortland also won the 400-yard freestyle relay as senior Katie Molzan (Plattsburgh/Peru), Seeger, freshman Jessica Evans (Hamburg) and Bergquist were clocked at 3:46.77.

Freshman Abigail MacDonald (East Amherst/Williamsville North) earned three top-four finishes. She was second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:12.99), third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:16.88) and fourth in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:29.52). Sophomore Laura Bohneberg (Lockport) finished second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:20.49) and third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:33.67).

Evans, Molzan and senior Samantha Buckley (Holbrook/Sachem North) each finished in the top four twice individually. Evans was third in the 100-yard freestyle (57.15) and fourth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:23.62). Molzan placed third in the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.34) and fourth in the 100-yard freestyle (57.17), while Buckley was third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:29.78) and fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:05.03).

Bergquist finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle (26.18), freshman Kelsey Roe (Auburn) finished fourth in the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.94) and junior Rachel Phillips (Eden) was fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:33.79). In addition, Roe, Bohneberg, freshman Katherine Harris (Long Beach) and freshman Leah Braymiller (Boston/Eden) finished fourth in the 400-yard medley relay (4:22.83) and senior Lauryn Kaznowski (Kingston) placed fifth in three-meter diving (201.70 points).
