CORTLAND, N.Y. - Four different players scored goals as the nationally fourth-ranked Plattsburgh men's hockey team defeated Cortland, 4-1, Friday night in SUNYAC action at Alumni Arena.

Junior Jarrett Gold (East Setauket/NY Bobcats) scored his team-high 13th goal of the season for the Red Dragons (7-13 overall, 4-7 SUNYAC), and senior Justin Porpora (Hauppauge/NY Bobcats) and sophomore Alex Arthur (Portland, ME/Boston Bulldogs) each recorded an assist. Sophomore goalie Mike Reilly (New York/Bismarck Bobcats) stopped 23 shots and allowed three goals before being pulled for an extra skater late in the game.

Sophomore Kyle Kudroch (Cottam, ON/Leamington Flyers) led the Cardinals (13-2-4, 9-1-1) with a goal and an assist. Juniors Dan Sliasis (Georgetown, ON/Guelph Dominators) and Kyle VanDermale (Brentwood, NH/New England Huskies) and sophomore Kyle Taylor (St. Albans, VT/Brockville Braves) netted a goal apiece. Freshman Jared Docking (Toronto, ON/Toronto Jr. Canadians) chipped in with two assists, while four other players registered one assist. Freshman goalie Ryan Williams (Milton, ON/Huntsville Otters) turned aside 18 shots.

VanDermale opened the scoring at 18 minutes, 19 seconds of the first period when he tallied a short-handed goal after a Cortland turnover. Kudroch upped the lead to 2-0 at 6:45 of the second with a rebound goal in front. Gold pulled Cortland to within 2-1 at 17:53 of the second as he scored right on the doorstep.

Sliasis netted a power-play goal just seconds after a two-man advantage ended at 9:51 of the third period on a one-time at the left side of the net. Shortly after killing off a late Plattsburgh power play, Cortland pulled Reilly for an extra skater and Taylor iced the game with a breakaway empty-net goal.
