UTICA, N.Y. – The Utica men's hockey team scored four unanswered goals over the final two periods and defeated visiting Cortland, 4-2, Saturday night in non-conference action. The Red Dragons dropped to 5-10 on the season, while the Pioneers improved to 5-6-3.

Sophomore Jake Saville (Bellingham, WA/Marquette Rangers) and freshman Mike Lysyj (Hillsborough, NJ/South Shore Kings) netted Cortland's goals. Newcomers Corey John (Albany/SUNY Plattsburgh) and Dave Williams (Mississauga, ON/Port Hope Predators) registered assists. Senior Patrick Palmisano (Ann Arbor, MI/Bay State Breakers) had his season-long 14-game point-scoring streak snapped. Sophomore goalie Mike Reilly (New York/Bismarck Bobcats) made 31 saves.

Four different players lit the lamp for the Pioneers with Sean Timkey scoring the game winner two-minutes, 12 seconds into the third period. Anthony Luckow started in goal for Utica and stopped four shots in 11:49 before giving way to Justin Bolla, who turned aside all 21 shots he faced over the final 48:11.

Saville gave the Red Dragons a 1-0 lead at 2:43 of the first period off Williams' first career assist. Lysyj pushed the lead to 2-0 at 11:49 when he scored a short-handed goal, assisted by John.

Utica tied the game with two goals in the second period. Matt Fitzgibbons scored at 7:10 with a two-man advantage, and Brian Gibbons evened the game 48 seconds later just as the Red Dragons returned to full strength. Timkey tallied the game-winning goal early in the third period, and Aaron Jeffrey netted an insurance goal at 15:40 to secure the victory.
