CLINTON, N.Y. - Four different players scored goals as the Hamilton women's ice hockey team defeated Cortland, 4-3, Saturday night in the second game of a home-and-home series. The Red Dragons fell to 3-9 with the loss, and the Continentals upped their record to 3-4-2.

Sophomore Maggie Giamo (Orchard Park/RIT) scored a pair of goals for Cortland. Sophomore Ashley Meyer (New York/Sound Shore Warriors) recorded a goal and an assist, sophomore Julia Fleming (Buffalo/Buffalo Bisons) contributed two assists and freshman Cara Latchum (Warrington, PA/Wyoming Seminary) chipped in with one assist. Sophomore goalie Katie Double (Farmington/Victor H.S.) registered 30 saves.

Junior Stephanie Miguel (Maple, ON/St. Robert Catholic) led Hamilton with a goal and two assists. Senior Amy Allen (Bright's Grove, ON/Loomis Chaffee) and freshman Katie Zimmerman (Plymouth, MI/Plymouth-Salem H.S.) had a goal and assist, freshman Abby Runyon (Fairport/Fairport H.S.) collected a goal and junior Christie Sharlow (Potsdam/Brewster Academy) recorded three assists. Senior goalie Meg Shine (Duxbury, MA/Tabor Academy) made 16 saves.

The Continentals built a 2-0 lead after one period on the strength of goals from Runyon and Miguel. The Red Dragons battled back to tie the game at 2-2 as Meyer scored her fourth of the season 40 seconds into the second period and Giamo netted her fifth of the campaign on the power play at three minutes, 21 seconds of the second.

The Continentals, however, regained a two-goal lead with a pair of two-player advantage power-play goals from Zimmerman and Allen to close the period. Giamo pulled the Red Dragons to within 4-3 at the 8:25 mark of the third period with her team-high sixth goal of the season, but a late penalty by Cortland stymied a chance for the Red Dragons to pull Double for an extra skater in the closing moments of the game.
