CORTLAND, N.Y. – The 20th-ranked Cortland wrestling team won 9-of-10 bouts and defeated Morrisville St., 36-3, in a dual match Wednesday night at Corey Gymnasium. The Red Dragons improved to 4-1 with the win, while the Mustangs fell to 1-4.

Cortland sophomore Sean Kempf (Wantagh/MacArthur) started the night with an 8-2 win at 125 pounds. After the Red Dragons earned a forfeit win at 133 pounds, senior Aljamain Sterling (Uniondale), ranked seventh nationally, erased an early 2-0 deficit to secure a 7-2 decision at 141 pounds and Cortland led 12-0.

The Red Dragons won the next four bouts to push their lead to 27-0. Junior John Cataldo (Wantagh/MacArthur) recorded a 7-1 decision at 149 pounds, and sophomore Troy Sterling (Uniondale) followed with an 8-4 win at 157 pounds. Sophomore Jonathan Conroy (South Plainfield, NJ) pinned his opponent just six seconds before the end of regulation at 165 pounds, and freshman Pete DelMonaco (Sleepy Hollow) earned a 4-3 win at 174 pounds by virtue of having more than one minute of riding time at the end of the bout.

Junior Wheeler Brunschmid (Sherburne/Sherburne-Earlville) registered the Mustangs' lone win of the evening at 184 pounds, 4-3, over Cortland sophomore Chris Brown (Stony Brook/Ward Melville). Brunschmid scored the deciding points on a reversal just past the midway point of the third period. Cortland junior Carl Korpi (Miller Place) won by fall in 4:09 at 197 pounds, and Cortland sophomore Corey James (Kingston) recorded a 4-1 decision at 285 pounds for the final score of 36-3
