Sophomore Mike Reilly stopped 22 of the 23 shots he faced

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Caylin Relkoff made 41 saves and Matt Salmon notched a pair of goals to lead the Morrisville St. men's hockey team to a 5-0 win versus Cortland Friday night in SUNYAC action at the Morrisville IcePlex. The Red Dragons fell to 7-16 overall and 4-10 in the conference with the loss, while the Mustangs improved to 7-14 and 4-9 and tied the Red Dragons in the league standings.
Freshman Doug Danzi (Nesconset/New Jersey Rockets) started in goal for Cortland, allowing four goals and making nine saves in the opening 26 minutes, 51 seconds before giving way to sophomore Mike Reilly (New York/Bismarck Bobcats), who stopped 22 shots and surrendered one goal over the final 33:09.
Geoff Matzel added a goal and an assist for the Mustangs, and Andrew Alarie and Nick Kulas each netted a goal. Jonathan Cristini registered two assists and five others recorded one assist apiece.
The Mustangs took a 2-0 lead after the first period on Kulas' goal at 1:47 and Salmon's short-handed effort at 12:06. Alarie added a power-play goal at 2:50 of the second period, followed by Matzel's even-strength score at 6:51. Salmon completed the scoring at 8:35 of the third period before a rash of penalties filled the game in the final four minutes.
