Cortland junior outfielder
Brooke Weidman (Perkinsville/Wayland-Cohocton) has been selected as both the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Upstate New York Softball Player of the Week for the week ending March 14.
Weidman was named to the all-tournament team at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Div. III Leadoff Classic. She batted .563 (9-for-16) with four RBI, four runs scored and three stolen bases in six games.
Weidman went 2-for-2 with a steal in an 8-0 victory over nationally 20th-ranked Central College of Iowa and had a two-run triple and a walk in a 9-1 win over Willamette University of Oregon. She also had two hits each in losses to Willamette and second-ranked Texas-Tyler.
Cortland, ranked sixth nationally in Division III, finished 4-2 won the silver-medal bracket at the 24-team tournament in Panama City Beach, Fla.
