Red Dragons Survive Scare at Fredonia St., 9-7

Sophomore Jordan Miller scored her seventh goal of the season in the win
FREDONIA, N.Y. – Sophomore Lindsay Abbott (South Onondaga/Onondaga Central) scored two goals and dished out three assists to lead the nationally eighth-ranked Cortland women's lacrosse team to a 9-7 win at Fredonia St. Saturday afternoon in SUNYAC action. The Red Dragons improved to 10-2 overall and 6-0 in the conference with the win, while the Blue Devils fell to 7-5 and 1-2.

Sophomore Kelly Radigan (Fayetteville/Fayetteville-Manlius) also scored twice for Cortland, and senior Jess Fritz (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) had one goal and one assist. Sophomores Erin Kollar (East Islip) and Jordan Miller (Liverpool) and freshmen Gina Campese (East Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa) and Maria Di Fato (Camillus/West Genesee) each tallied one goal, while senior Nicki Mahoney (Canandaigua/Canandaigua Academy) recorded two assists. Freshman goalie Ally Levy (Reisterstown, MD/Seton Keough) made eight saves.

Katie Monaghan and Amy Simon each scored twice for Fredonia St. Maddison Frink contributed a goal and two assists, Valerie Snider and Amanda Zumbo scored one goal apiece and Morgan McNamara chipped in with two assists. Casey Chiesa stopped 12 shots in goal.

After the teams were tied 3-3 at the half, Cortland scored the first four goals of the second half and held a 7-3 lead with 15 minutes, 48 seconds remaining in the game. Fredonia St. scored three of the next four goals and pulled to within 8-6 at the 7:47 mark. Radigan put Cortland up, 9-6, just 26 seconds later and Frink completed the scoring with 19 seconds left on the clock.
