Cortland sophomore midfielder
Lindsay Abbott (South Onondaga/Onondaga) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's lacrosse Player of the Week for the week ending April 18. She also won the award in late March.
Abbott helped lead the nationally eighth-ranked Red Dragons (10-2, 6-0 SUNYAC) to a 2-1 week with 16 points on eight goals and eight assists. She also won 14 draw controls.
At William Smith on Wednesday, Abbott became just the fourth sophomore in Cortland women's lacrosse history to score 100 career goals as she tallied five and added an assist with seven draws. In a win versus Buffalo St. on Friday, Abbott scored five points on a goal and four assists and registered six draws. Abbott finished the week with two goals and three assists in a 9-7 win at Fredonia St. on Saturday.
For the season, she leads the team in goals (31), assists (26), points (57) and draws (53). She has scored 103 goals in her two collegiate seasons, prior to this week's games.
