CORTLAND, N.Y. – Sixteen different players scored goals as the nationally fourth-ranked Cortland men's lacrosse team defeated Plattsburgh, 25-7, in SUNYAC action Saturday afternoon at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex. The Red Dragons improved to 11-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference with the win, while the Cardinals fell to 10-5 and 1-3.
Sophomore
Mike Tota (Webster/Webster Schroeder) led the Cortland offense with four goals and two assists. Junior
Chris DeLuca (Sayville) also tallied four goals and won 12-of-17 faceoffs. Sophomore
Christian Daly (Syracuse/Jamesville-DeWitt) scored three goals, and senior
Brian Krol (Niskayuna) was the only other Cortland player with multiple goals, scoring twice and recorded four assists. Senior

Junior Kyle Norchi (Hauppauge) paced the Cardinals with two goals. Sophomore Pete Morgan (Putnam Valley) and freshman Joe Kramer (Lindenhurst) had one goal and one assist each. Senior Luke Flegar (Putnam Valley) and freshman Tommy Kilderry (Glen Head/North Shore) and Brandon Smith (Minoa/East Syracuse-Minoa) netted one goal apiece, and senior Luke Weidlein (Seaford) contributed two assists.
Junior Logan Carpenter (Fort Edward/South Glens Falls) made the start in goal and stopped three shots in 22 minutes, three seconds. Sophomore Danny Caufield (Rochester/McQuaid) made five saves in 22:57, and sophomore Joey Carni (Syracuse/Henninger) turned aside one shot in the fourth quarter.
The Red Dragons took control of the game by outscoring the Cardinals, 8-1, in the opening quarter. Cortland pushed its lead to 13-5 at the half and 20-6 through three quarters as the bench emptied. The Red Dragons capped the game by outscoring Plattsburgh, 5-1, in the fourth quarter for the 25-7 final.
