ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally fourth-ranked Cortland men's lacrosse team opened up a 10-2 lead at the half and went on to defeat Ithaca, 11-5, in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at Upper Terrace Field. The Red Dragons won their sixth consecutive game and improved to 7-2 on the season with the win, while the Bombers fell to 2-7.

Chris DeLuca (Sayville) led Cortland with three goals and an assist and won 6-of-10 faceoffs. Senior
Brandon Misiaszek (New Hartford) recorded two goals and an assist, senior
Tom Burke (Massapequa) scored two goals and collected five ground balls and sophomore
Greg Wright (Irondequoit) added one goal and one assist. Juniors

Mike Tota (Webster/Webster Schroeder) each tallied a goal and senior
Chris Dutkowsky (Vestal) contributed a career-high three assists. Freshman goalie
Mike Kaminski (Sayville) stopped nine shots, including eight in the second half, to run his record to 7-2 on the season.
Junior Ryan Lowe (Fairport) paced Ithaca with three goals and an assist. Sophomores Devin Weinshank (Long Beach) and Tom Mongelli (Kinnelon, NJ) each scored a goal and senior Nic Heckman (Sparta, NJ) chipped in with two assists. Junior goalie David Gal (Amherst, MA/Loomis Chaffee) made nine saves in 26 minutes, nine seconds before giving way to sophomore Brendan Green (Pittsford/Pittsford Mendon), who registered three saves over the final 33:51.
After Misiaszek and Lowe traded early scores, Cortland went on an eight-goal run highlighted by back-to-back goals from Burke and three scores from DeLuca to make it a 9-1 game with 9:49 left in the first half. Lowe stopped the run with his second of the game at 5:55 of the second quarter, but Wright closed out the half with a man-up goal at 1:13 to make it a 10-2 game at intermission.
The Bombers pulled to within 10-5 with the only three goals of the third quarter, all in the final 6:50, but Cortland netted the lone goal in the fourth quarter off Tota's stick for the 11-5 final.
