Red Dragons Taking Great Strides for Zoe and Cole

The Red Dragons pose with Cole and Zoe Favro after a big win
This season, the nationally ranked Cortland women's lacrosse team has decided to play for more than wins. In 2010 the Red Dragons are taking great strides by playing for sister and brother Zoe and Cole Favro, cousins of sophomore team captain Lindsay Abbott. Both 12-year-old Zoe and nine-year-old Cole are afflicted with cystic fibrosis (CF), an inherited, chronic life-threatening disease affecting the digestive and pulmonary systems.

Zoe and Cole participate in every day activities such as dance class, school and church musicals and Boy Scouts, like other children their ages. However, in their constant battle against CF, Zoe and Cole take several pills each time they eat to aid in digestion, sit for 20 minutes twice a day to perform an airway clearance system and take medication through a nebulizer. When these daily treatments are not enough, Zoe and Cole require hospitalization where they receive intravenous antibiotics and other treatments.

The Cortland team hopes to raise awareness and donations for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The CF Foundation receives no federal funding and depends on the generosity of individual donors and corporations to support its life-saving mission. Your donation goes directly to the CF Foundation, one of the most effective and efficient organizations of its kind. For more information on the CF Foundation, please visit www.cff.org.

Please help the Cortland women's lacrosse team as the Red Dragons take great strides this season in support of Zoe and Cole Favro. The players and staff are grateful for our support so that someday soon the CF can stand for Cure Found. To make a credit card donation, please go to http://www.cff.org/Great_Strides/KathyTaylor6587.
