Sophomore Lindsay Abbott earned second team All-America honors for the second year in a row
Three members of the SUNY Cortland women's lacrosse team have earned Division III All-America honors for the 2010 season. It is the second campaign in a row that the Red Dragons have had three honorees.

Lindsay Abbott (South Onondaga/Onondaga Central) and freshman midfielder
Maria Di Fato (Camillus/West Genesee) were named second team All-Americans and senior midfielder
Jess Fritz (Baldwinsville/C.W. Baker) was chosen as a third team All-American by both the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) and the web site womenslacrosse.com. This is Abbott's second consecutive IWLCA second team selection, while Fritz was also a third team pick in 2008.
Abbott, Di Fato and Fritz were all IWLCA first team All-Empire Region and All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Upstate New York Division III selections. Di Fato was also selected as the ECAC Upstate New York and the www.womenslacrosse.com Rookie of the Year, as well as chosen as a member of the web site's All-Rookie team.
Abbott led Cortland this spring with 51 goals and 34 assists for 85 total points. She became just the fourth player in school history to reach 100 career goals in her sophomore season and is already tied for 12th in career scoring (123-50-173). She led the team with 104 draw controls, which ranked ninth nationally in Division III, and also recorded 25 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers.
Di Fato started all 20 games as a freshman and was fourth on the team in scoring with 58 points on 40 goals and 18 assists. She led the team with 72 ground balls and 67 caused turnovers and collected 29 draws. Her 3.35 caused turnovers per game ranked second nationally in Division III.
Fritz completed her four-year career with 236 points on 175 goals and 61 assists. She ranks fifth in points, seventh in goals and sixth in assists. This season, Fritz was third on the team in scoring with 63 points on 42 goals and 21 assists. She ranked second on the squad with 60 ground balls and 34 caused turnovers.
Cortland finished the season with a 17-3 record. The Red Dragons won their 12th straight State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) title and made their 12th consecutive NCAA Division III tournament appearance. Cortland finished tied for ninth nationally after advancing to the NCAA second round. The Red Dragons have played in at least the second round in each of their last 12 NCAA showings.
