Remainder of SUNYAC Baseball Tournament Canceled Due to Weather; Brockport Declared Tournament Champion

The 2010 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) baseball postseason tournament was officially declared completed after Sunday's elimination game between Oneonta and host Cortland was canceled due to snow and cold, windy weather.

Brockport, the lone team with a 2-0 record in the tournament, is the champion per SUNYAC bylaws and receives the league's NCAA Div. III tournament automatic berth.

League rules stipulate that the tournament must be concluded by the end of the day Monday (May 10). However, league and school officials agreed that no team should play three games in one day, which could have happened if Cortland and Oneonta played on Monday and that winner defeated Brockport. Therefore, the tournament was officially declared finished by SUNYAC Commissioner Dr. Patrick Damore.

Brockport's league title is its first since 2004 and its fifth overall. NCAA tournament selections and pairings will be announced on Monday, May 17.
