Cortland senior pitcher
Katie Finch (Amsterdam/Broadalbin-Perth) has been chosen to the 2010 ESPN the Magazine College Division District I All-Academic Softball second team.
The team, chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), encompasses Division II and III schools from New York and New England. Finch is a physical education major with a cumulative 3.30 grade point average, prior to this past spring semester. She earned third team academic all-district honors during her sophomore season.
Finch is currently 25-2 with two saves and a 0.60 earned run average in 30 appearances. In 163 innings pitched, she has given up only 74 hits and 19 walks and has struck out 238 batters. She was named SUNYAC Tournament MVP after going 4-0 without allowing a run as Cortland won its third league title in the last four years.
Cortland (38-6) is ranked seventh nationally in Division III and will begin play in the NCAA tournament later this week.
