Cortland Defeats Div. II West Chester, 184.35-183.775

Senior Lauren Pytel finished second on uneven bars with a career-best 9.325
CORTLAND, N.Y. – Cortland sophomore Sarah Nadrowski (Tonawanda/Kenmore East) won three events and the all-around as the Red Dragons narrowly defeated Div. II West Chester University (Pa.), 184.35-183.775, in a home dual meet.

Nadrowski established a new career high in the all-around with her score of 38.075. She is only the sixth gymnast in program history to eclipse the 38-point level. She set a career high with her winning vault score of 9.65 and tied career highs with her first-place 9.45 on uneven bars and third-place 9.45 on balance beam. She also won floor exercise with a 9.525.

Junior Marissa Goodstein (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) finished second on vault with a 9.575 and senior Lauren Pytel (Naugatuck, CT/Holy Cross) placed second on uneven bars with a career-best 9.325. Freshman Courtney Mangini (Dix Hills/Commack) and sophomore Amanda Recor (Lancaster) tied for third on vault with scores of 9.475. Mangini's effort was the best of her young collegiate career.

Also for Cortland, senior Kasey Cutler (East Hampton, CT) was fourth on uneven bars (9.125) and freshman Stephanie Sladky (East Islip) finished fourth on floor exercise with a career-high 9.375. Senior Elisabeth Roberge (Southington, CT) finished fifth in the two events – uneven bars (9.00) and floor exercise (9.35).

West Chester's Amber Miller Sicklerville, NJ) won balance beam with a 9.725. Sophomore Kaley LaFleur (Seminole, FL) finished second on both beam (9.55) and floor exercise (9.475), and was the best of the Golden Rams' three all-arounders with a second-place score of 37.25.

Junior Alli Aquila (Sinking Spring, PA) turned in three top-five finishes for West Chester. She was third on floor exercise (9.40) and fifth on both vault (9.45) and balance beam (9.275). In addition, Paige Griffin (Philadelphia, PA) finished third on uneven bars (9.225) and Emily Seigel (Reisterstown, MD) was fourth on balance beam (9.375).
