CORTLAND, N.Y. - Senior Jessica Schroeder (Sudbury, ON/Sudbury Wolves) scored a pair of goals, including the eventual game winner in the third period, to lead the Neumann women's ice hockey team to a 4-3 win versus Cortland Saturday afternoon in ECAC West action at Alumni Arena. The Red Dragons dropped to 2-14-2 overall and 1-9-2 in the conference with the setback, while the Knights improved to 10-6-3 and 7-6-1 after sweeping the two-game weekend series.

Senior Niki Blazenko (Burlington, ON/Burlington Baracudas) added a goal and two assists for Neumann, and freshman Edie Brenning (Greely, ON/Nepean Jr. Wildcats) also scored. Senior Mariah Fairgrieve (Fort Erie, ON/Buffalo St.) registered two assists, while junior Jennie Greenlee (Burlington, ON/Hamilton Jr. Hawks) chipped in with one assist. Sophomore goalie Allie Frank (Phoenix, AZ/Chatham University) turned aside 20 shots.
The Knights took an early 2-0 lead after Blazenko scored on a deflection at three minutes, 19 seconds after a Cortland turnover and Brenning tallied a wrap-around goal at 6:22. The Red Dragons battled back to tie the game at 2-2 in the second period. At 10:17 of the second, Meyer one timed a shot at the right post to cut the lead to 2-1. Puckhaber followed with a rebound goal at 15:43 on the power play to knot the game up. Schroeder gave Neumann back the lead with a backhand goal on a breakaway at the 19:05 mark, set up by Blazenko.
The Knights upped their lead to 4-2 at 7:21 of the third. Blazenko sent Schroeder in alone with a long pass, and Schroeder converted for her team-high ninth goal of the season. The Red Dragons made it a one-goal game at 18:41 when Giamo swatted in a rebound in front as she was going to the ice. After the ensuing faceoff, Cortland was unable to pull Double for an extra skater as Neumann maintained possession of the puck and held on for the 4-3 win.
