WILKES-BARRE, PA. – Cortland, ranked ninth nationally in Division III, won all four of its matches, including two versus ranked squads, at the seven-team Wilkes University John Reese Duals. Cortland defeated Plymouth State, 26-13, followed by a 28-9 win over nationally 12th-ranked Wilkes. The Red Dragons then knocked off King's, 28-15, and finished the day with a 30-10 win over 18th-ranked Centenary of New Jersey.  Wilkes had the second-best record at 3-1, followed by NYU at 2-1, Centenary and Oneonta each at 1-2, Plymouth State at 1-3 and King's at 0-3.

Freshman Nigel McNeil (Huntington Station/Huntington) and junior Sean Kempf (Wantagh/MacArthur) each finished the day with 4-0 records. Two of McNeil's four wins were by major decision at 125 pounds. Kempf had a technical fall and a forfeit win among his victories at 133 pounds.

Five other Red Dragons posted 2-0 records at the tournament. Junior Troy Sterling (Uniondale), ranked eighth nationally at 157 pounds, won his first match by major decision and earned a 5-3 decision over second-ranked Chris Burdge of Centenary. Freshman Lou Puca's (Huntington) two victories at 174 pounds were by pin and major decision. Nationally sixth-ranked junior Jared Myhrberg (Queensbury) pinned his two opponents at 197 pounds, as did junior Adam Hulett (East Greenbush/Columbia) at 141 pounds. Sophomore James Ondris (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) earned a decision and a forfeit victory at 165 pounds.

Junior Corey James (Kingston), ranked seventh at 285 pounds, won his first match before losing to fifth-ranked JD Zitone of Centenary, 5-2. Senior Carl Korpi (Miller Place) finished 1-1 at 197 pounds, with his loss a 5-4 overtime decision to fifth-ranked Mike Reilly of King's. Junior Andre Berry (Uniondale) lost 4-3 to fourth-ranked Anthony Dattolo of Wilkes at 149 pounds, but rebounded to win by major decision versus Centenary.
