The 2011 ECAC Div. III Champion Cortland Red Dragons
CORTLAND, N.Y. - The Cortland women's gymnastics team won its fifth Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III title and its first since 2003 with a school-record score of 190.00 at the seven-team championship meet in Corey Gymnasium.
The Red Dragons earned one of the ECAC's three berths, along with second-place Brockport (189.10) and Ithaca (188.05), to the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships March 25-26 in Eau Claire, Wis. Rounding out the ECAC field were Ursinus (186.60), Springfield (183.15), Wilson (171.20) and Rhode Island College (164.425).
Cortland's winning score of 190.00 easily eclipsed the previous school record of 188.95 set during the 2003-04 season. The Red Dragons also set a school team record on vault with a 48.575 (previous best was 47.975 in 2003-04).
Junior
Marissa Goodstein (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) broke her own school record on vault with her winning score of 9.825. The Red Dragons took the top three places in the event as sophomore
Amanda Recor (Lancaster) finished second with a career-best 9.775, which matched Goodstein's previous school record, and sophomore
Sarah Nadrowski (Tonawanda/Kenmore East) finished third with a career-high 9.75.
Cortland earned 13 All-ECAC honors with top-six finishes. Nadrowski earned four of those with her third-place vault, her victory in the all-around with a career-high 38.375, and ties for fourth place on both balance beam (career-high 9.625) and uneven bars (9.375).
Recor and freshman
Courtney Mangini (Dix Hills/Commack) garnered three All-ECAC honors each. In addition to her runner-up showing on vault, Recor finshed second on balance beam with a career-high tying 9.675 and tied for fourth on floor exercise with a career-best 9.725. Mangini finished second in the all-around with a career-high 38.275, placed second on floor exercise with a career-high 9.80 and tied for sixth on balance beam (9.60).
Senior
Elisabeth Roberge (Southington, CT) posted a career-high 9.475 for a second-place finish on uneven bars. Freshman
Stephanie Sladky (East Islip) was among a five-way tie for sixth place on floor exercise with a career-best 9.70.
