UPPER MONTCLAIR, N.J. – Freshman
Mark Panneton (Niskayuna) scored six goals as nationally fourth-ranked Cortland defeated host Montclair State, 14-4, in a non-league matchup. The Red Dragons are 3-0 on the season by a combined score of 39-7. The Red Hawks drop to 1-2 with the loss.

Chris DeLuca (Sayville) each scored two goals. DeLuca also won all six of his faceoff attempts. Junior

Jay DiStefano (Huntington/Harborfields) registered a goal and two assists apiece and freshman
Joe Slavik (Binghamton/Seton Catholic) tallied a goal and an assist.
Cortland sophomore goalie
Mike Kaminski (Sayville) made three saves and caused four turnovers over the first three quarters. Freshman
Scott Tota (Webster/Webster Schroeder) stopped one shot and allowed one goal over the final 15 minutes.
Anthony Rybek (Old Bridge, NJ) led Montclair with a goal and an assist. Mark Glander (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Township) recorded 14 saves in 56:30 between the pipes.
Neither team scored until Panneton found the net with 8:02 left in the first quarter.
Mike Tota's goal 14 seconds later gave the Red Dragons a 2-0 lead.
Montclair closed to within 2-1 on Rybek's goal 3:17 into the second quarter. Panneton, however, scored three straight goals over the next five minutes to put Cortland ahead 5-1. The Red Dragons scored three of the final four goals of the half, capped by two DeLuca tallies in the last 1:08, and led 8-2 at halftime.
Cortland put the game away by scoring the first four goals of the third quarter. Wright scored the first goal and set up Tota for the second one in the first four minutes of the period. The Red Dragons led 12-3 after three quarters and netted the first two goals of the fourth quarter. For the game, Cortland outshot the Red Hawks, 54-16, and won 14-of-22 faceoffs.
Cortland will face 16th-ranked Gettysburg College on Saturday, March 12, at 1 p.m. at John J. Burns Park in Massapequa, N.Y., on Long Island. The teams are playing there for the third straight season – Gettysburg won last year's meeting, 7-5, and Cortland won in 2009 by a 14-8 count. The teams also played in the 2009 NCAA Div. III title game in Foxborough, Mass., with Cortland posting a 9-7 victory.
