Ally Levy (Reisterstown, MD/Seton Keough) and junior midfielder
Lindsay Abbott (South Onondaga/Onondaga Central) have been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's lacrosse Goalie and Player of the Week, respectively, for the week ending April 24.
In addition, Levy has been selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Upstate New York Defensive Player of the Week. Levy has earned SUNYAC Goalie of the Week honors three times and ECAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition twice this spring.
Levy helped lead the nationally fourth-ranked Red Dragons to a 3-0 week. She recorded a 3-0 record with a 4.27 GAA and a .600 save percentage. In a 17-7 win at Potsdam, she made two saves and allowed one goal in the opening half. Levy then stopped eight shots in a 14-8 victory versus Union on Thursday, and stopped five shots and let in just one goal in 50:38 of a 15-2 win versus Fredonia St. on Saturday.
For the season, Levy has posted a 12-0 record with a 6.78 GAA and a .538 save percentage.
Abbott totaled nine goals and 14 assists in three games. She recorded one goal and four assists in a 17-7 win at Potsdam on Tuesday and scored five goals with five assists in a 14-8 win over Union on Thursday. With the five assists against Union, Abbott set a new single-season record for assists, totaling 43 to that point, and also became one of only six players in school history to reach 250 total career points (currently at 164 goals and 98 assists for 262 points).
Abbott also led the Red Dragons with three goals and five assists in a 15-2 win against Fredonia State on Saturday to keep Cortland undefeated in SUNYAC play. This performance extended her single-season assist record to 48.
Cortland is 14-1 overall and 6-0 in SUNYAC play. The Red Dragons have won 12 straight games and will host Oneonta on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
