The SUNY Cortland women's lacrosse team will host Keene State College of New Hampshire in an NCAA Division III tournament first-round game on Wednesday, May 11, at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex. The game time is 3 p.m.
The winner will play in a four-team regional on Saturday-Sunday, May 14-15, and will face either Endicott College (Mass.) or Tufts University (Mass.) in the second round. Other first-round matchups in Cortland's portion of the bracket are Hamilton College hosting The College at Brockport and Colby College (Maine) hosting Norwich University (Vt.). The site of the four-team May 14-15 regional will be announced after the first round is completed.
Under third-year head coach Kathy Taylor, the Red Dragons (18-1) earned a playoff berth after capturing their 13th straight State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) tournament title. Cortland won the league crown with a 14-6 win versus Brockport in last Saturday's championship game. The Red Dragons will be making their 13th straight NCAA appearance and 15th overall.
Last season, Cortland defeated Norwich in the opening round before losing to Colby. Cortland has played in at least the NCAA second round each of the last 12 years, including a “final four” showing in 2006 and quarterfinal appearances in 2001, 2002 and 2005.
