BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Senior
Molly Byrne (Syracuse/Bishop Ludden) led four Cortland double-figure scorers with 14 points as the Red Dragons cruised to a 72-39 victory at Brockport. The Red Dragons increased their record to 10-7 overall and 5-5 in the SUNYAC.
Byrne made 4-of-6 three-pointers and 5-of-8 shots overall from the floor. Sophomore
Rosie McKee (Bethlehem) posted career highs of 12 points and seven rebounds. She also made 5-of-8 shots from the field.
Senior
Megan Maycumber (Jamesville/Jamesville-DeWitt) totaled 12 points and eight rebounds and senior
Micki Volpini (Newfield) finished with 11 points, three assists and a game-high nine rebounds. Volpini has now scored 982 career points.
Senior
Brittany Cohen (Fayetteville/Jamesville-DeWitt) led the Red Dragons with five assists and senior
Ally Biordi (Beacon) grabbed seven rebounds.
Erica Johnson led Brockport (3-13, 0-9 SUNYAC) with nine points and LaDonya Rolle pulled down eight rebounds.
Cortland scored the first six points and never trailed. The Red Dragons led 28-16 at halftime as Volpini scored nine of her 12 points in the opening period. Cortland opened the second half on a 25-5 run that featured three Byrne three-pointers and the Red Dragons led 53-21 with 14:06 remaining.
Cortland will travel to Potsdam for a SUNYAC game Friday at 6 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. league game Saturday at Plattsburgh.
