JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – Freshman Mike McGrath (Kingston) and junior Will Parks (Shoreham/Longwood) each won weight class titles and six other Cortland wrestlers earned top-six finishes as the Red Dragons competed at the non-team scoring Jamestown Open at Jamestown Community College.

McGrath won the 184-pound bracket with a 3-0 record. He pinned his first opponent, won by a 9-1 major decision in the semifinals and earned a 4-2 decision over Edinboro's Warren Bosch in the championship match.

Parks won four matches to claim the title at 197 pounds. He opened with a 2-0 decision, followed by 8-6 and 3-1 verdicts. He beat Seth Stonis of Mercyhurst in the finals, 4-1.

Junior Alex Meyers (Morrisville/Morrisville-Eaton) and sophomore James Ondris (Massapequa Park/Massapequa) finished second and third, respectively, at 174 pounds. Meyers officially went 3-0 with a pin and two decisions before medically forfeiting the title match. Ondris won four of his six matches with a pin, a technical fall and a major decision.

Freshman Paul Fields (Clarkstown/Clarkstown North) finished fifth at 125 pounds with a 3-2 record, sophomore Eric Kaufman (Massapequa) placed fifth at 165 pounds with a 4-2 mark and freshman Vinnie Buttice (Bainbridge/Bainbridge-Guilford) finished fifth at 197 pounds with a 2-2 record. Junior Adam Hulett (East Greenbush/Columbia) finished sixth at 149 pounds. He pinned his first two opponents before losing in the semifinals plus twice in the wrestlebacks.
