Cortland junior Will Parks (Shoreham/Longwood) and freshman Mike McGrath (Kingston) have been honored as the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) Wrestler and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for the week ending January 29.

Parks won the 197-pound bracket at the Jamestown Open Saturday with four victories, capped by a 4-1 decision in the finals against a wrestler from Mercyhurst. Parks improved his season record to 15-2.

McGrath won the 184-pound weight class at the Jamestown Open with a 3-0 record. He pinned his first opponent in 23 seconds, followed by a 9-1 major decision in the semifinals and a 4-2 win over a wrestler from Edinboro in the finals. McGrath is 16-8 this season.

The Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference consists of Brockport, Cortland, Ithaca, Lycoming, Messiah, Oneonta, Oswego and Rochester Institute of Technology.
