BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Cortland lost to defending league champion Geneseo, 5-0, in the quarterfinal round of the SUNYAC tournament at the Binghamton Tennis Center. Cortland (4-6), the number-four seed in the East, will play Fredonia (#3 West) in a consolation bracket match Saturday at 11 a.m., while Geneseo (7-1), the top seed in the West, will play either Plattsburgh in the semifinals Saturday at 5 p.m.
Geneseo won the doubles matches by 8-0, 8-2 and 8-0 counts at the first, second and third flights, respectively. The Knights then clinched the win with victories at first singles, 6-0, 6-0, and fourth singles, 6-0, 6-1. The match was called after Geneseo had secured the team victory.
