BUFFALO, N.Y. – Three different players scored goals as the Cortland women's ice hockey team earned a 3-1 win at Buffalo St. Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Red Dragons split the two-game weekend series and improved to 5-14-1 overall and 3-12-1 in the ECAC West. The Bengals fell to 7-14-2 and 4-11-1.

Freshman Chelsie Hausberger (Buffalo/Buffalo Bisons) led Cortland with a goal and an assist. Senior Amanda Maddalena (Howell, NJ/Wyoming Seminary) and junior Chelsey Wright (Medford/Suffolk PAL) each scored a goal, and senior Jen Whelan (Langhorne, PA/Neumann), junior Brianna Rossi (Stormville/Brewster Bulldogs) and freshman Abbie Adams (Potsdam/Cornwall Typhoons) contributed one assist apiece. Senior goalie Katie Double (Farmington/Victor H.S.) made 31 saves.

Courtney Carnes netted Buffalo St.'s goal with Tara Boliard and Leah Knott each picking up an assist. Goalie Jess Garland stopped 23 shots.

After a scoreless first period, Maddalena gave Cortland the lead at seven minutes, 49 seconds with her third goal of the season assisted by Hausberger and Adams. Carnes tied the score at 13:10 of the second with a short-handed effort. Hausberger then scored the game-winning goal at 14:08 of the second off Rossi's assist with the player advantage.

Wright scored an insurance goal for Cortland at 5:32 of the third period, assisted by Whelan. The Bengals pulled Garland for 1:19 late in the third period but could not get another shot past Double.
