Courtney Mangini finished third in the all-around to repeat as an All-American. She will compete in the floor exericse finals Saturday.
BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Cortland finished in fourth place out of six teams at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships, hosted by The College at Brockport. The Red Dragons finished with a score of 185.55.
Brockport and Wisconsin-Whitewater shared the national team title with scores of 188.05. Wisconsin-La Crosse, which had won the previous four national titles, placed third (187.20), followed by Cortland, Wisconsin-Eau Claire (183.70) and Ithaca (182.65).
Sophomore
Courtney Mangini (Dix Hills/Commack) and junior
Sarah Nadrowski (Buffalo/Kenmore East) each earned All-America honors in the all-around competition for the second straight year with top-10 finishes. Mangini finished third out of 17 competitors with a combined score of 37.25 and Nadrowski tied for seventh place with a 36.875. Last season, Nadrowski placed fifth nationally and Mangini was ninth.
Cortland earned seven spots in Saturday's individual event finals. Friday's top 14 finishers, plus ties, in each event will compete for national titles. Friday's scores will not affect Saturday's results.
Senior
Marissa Goodstein (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) recorded the best score on vault with a 9.65 and freshman
Elise Konikoff (Hamburg) tied for the top score on balance beam with a 9.75. Mangini finished with the second-best performance on floor exercise with a 9.625.
Nadrowski will compete in two individual event finals Saturday. She tied for ninth Friday on uneven bars with a 9.225 and placed 12th on floor exercise with a 9.50. Also competing Saturday will be senior
Cady Tinney (Nichols/Tioga Central), who tied for seventh on uneven bars (9.25), and sophomore
Stephanie Sladky (East Islip), who tied for 13th on floor exercise (9.475).
