OSWEGO, N.Y. –  Senior Lindsay Abbott (South Onondaga/Onondaga Central) scored five goals to become Cortland's career leader in goals scored as the nationally third-ranked Red Dragons defeated Oswego, 19-6, in women's lacrosse action Saturday at Oswego. Abbott, also Cortland's career leader in points and assists, has tallied 214 goals, surpassing the mark of 211 set by Jeanna Angotti from 1999-2002.

Abbott added three assists for a game-high eight points. Junior Gina Campese (East Syracuse/East Syracuse-Minoa) compiled a career-best seven points for the Red Dragons (7-1, 1-0 SUNYAC) on three goals and four assists. Junior Maria Di Fato (Camillus/West Genesee) contributed three goals and two assists, senior Erin Kollar (East Islip) netted three goals and freshman Marilyn Farrell (Fayetteville/Fayetteville-Manlius) added two goals and two assists. Junior Laura Edward (Blue Point/Bayport-Blue Point) recorded two goals and a team-high five draw controls, and sophomore Taylor Reh (Miller Place) scored once. Junior goalie Shauna Hutchinson (Islip Terrace/East Islip) made five saves in 54 minutes, 34 seconds before giving way to sophomore Courtney Morgan (Locust Valley), who did not face a shot on goal over the final 5:26.

Rachael Raffa led the Lakers (1-3, 0-1) with four goals, while Erin Cummings contributed one goal and one assist. Kelly Collins scored a goal and collected a game-high nine draws, and Danielle Citro chipped in with two assists. Lauren Marois started in goal, making five saves in 14:06. Ashlee Engel stopped 10 shots in 34:49, and Nicole Nalle registered one save over the final 11:05.

Campese opened the scoring just 25 seconds into the game off an assist from Farrell. Just over a minute later, Farrell assisted on Abbott's first goal of the game. Collins netted her goal at 27:24 to make it 2-1, but the Red Dragons scored the next seven goals. Abbott tied the school record with her second tally at 26:00, then claimed the mark as her own with an unassisted goal 2:06 later. After Abbott added her fourth of the game at 22:51, Kollar, Farrell and Campese scored in less than a four-minute span to give Cortland an 8-1 lead. Raffa sandwiched a pair of goals around a Di Fato score before Kollar and Campese closed out the half with goals to push Cortland's advantage to 11-3 at intermission.

The Red Dragons eventually built a 17-3 lead just past the midway point of the second half with a six-goal spurt, two of the scores coming off Edward's stick. The Lakers then scored three of the next four goals with Raffa finding the back of the net twice before Reh finished off the scoring with 1:06 remaining for the 19-6 final.
