SALISBURY, MD. – The nationally fifth-ranked Salisbury women's lacrosse team built a 12-7 lead early in the second half and held off a Cortland rally to earn a 12-11 victory versus the third-ranked Red Dragons Wednesday night in non-conference action. The Red Dragons dropped to 1-1 with the setback, while the Sea Gulls improved to 3-0.

Lauren Feusahre paced Salisbury with four goals and two assists, and Allie Wheatley also tallied four goals. Alyssa Fowler scored three goals, Carrie Bray netted a goal and Katie Bollhorst chipped in with two assists. Goalie Ashton Wheatley stopped four shots.
Salisbury opened up a 2-0 lead before Cortland evened the score at 2-2 with 21 minutes, 59 seconds remaining in the first half. The Gulls then scored three straight goals in less than a three-minute span to grab the lead for good at 5-2. The Red Dragons answered by scoring three of the next four goals to pull to within 6-5 at the 9:39 mark. The Gulls closed the half, however, by out scoring Cortland 4-1 to take a 10-6 lead at the half.
After Reh scored her second of the game 3:17 into the second half to cut the deficit to 10-7, Fowler and Wheatley pushed the lead to 12-7 with 20:59 to play. Cortland then started a 4-0 run on Kollar's goals at 17:09 and 10:57. Farrell made it 12-10 at 4:38, and Di Fato netted a free-position goal at 1:39 to pull the Red Dragons within one goal. On the ensuing draw control, Cortland was whistled for a foul, awarding possession to Salisbury, which was able to run out the clock and secure the win.
