Lindsay Abbott Earns SUNYAC and ECAC Weekly Women's Lacrosse Honors

Senior Lindsay Abbott
Cortland senior midfielder Lindsay Abbott (South Onondaga/Onondaga Central) has been selected as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Mid-Atlantic Region Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending April 22. Abbott shares both awards with Buffalo State's Karen Shaddock.

Abbott and Shaddock became two of just five players in NCAA Div. III women's lacrosse history to reach the career 400-point mark. They reached the plateau on the same day – April 17 – during Cortland's game versus Potsdam and Buffalo State's game versus Geneseo.

Abbott scored four goals and picked up three assists for seven points in Cortland's 22-1 win over Potsdam. She added three goals in the Red Dragons' 8-7 win at then-SUNYAC leader Fredonia Saturday. Abbott has 53 goals and 40 assists for 93 points in 14 games this spring. Her career totals, through the end of the week, are 238 goals and 166 assists for 404 points.

Cortland, ranked second nationally, enters its game Tuesday at Oneonta with a 13-1 overall record and a 6-0 record in the SUNYAC.
