Lindsay Abbott (South Onondaga/Onondaga Central) and junior goalie
Shauna Hutchinson (Islip Terrace/East Islip) have been selected as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Lacrosse Player and Goalie of the Week, respectively, for the week ending April 1.
In addition, Abbott has been selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Div. III Mid-Atlantic Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week, also for the week ending April 1.
Abbott became Cortland's career-goal leader with her 10-goal performance in two games last week, surpassing the old mark of 211 set by Jeanna Angotti from 1999-2002. Abbott now has 214 career goals along with a Cortland-record 151 assists for a school-record 365 points.
Abbott opened the week with five goals and five assists in a 21-7 win at Nazareth and followed up with five goals and three assists in a 19-6 victory at Oswego, breaking the record with her third goal of the game early in the first half. For the season, Abbott leads the third-ranked Red Dragons (7-1, 1-0 SUNYAC) in goals (29), assists (28) and points (57) and has also recorded 13 ground balls and 13 draw controls.
Hutchinson made five saves in just more than 56 minutes of action in Cortland's win at Nazareth Thursday. She then turned aside five shots in 54:34 in the win at Oswego Saturday. For the season, she has a 7-1 record with a 7.59 GAA and a .482 save percentage. Hutchinson earned SUNYAC Goalie of the Week honors for the second time this spring.
