CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland women's gymnastics team was narrowly defeated by Div. II West Chester University, 186.225-185.225 in a dual meet at Corey Gymnasium. Three Red Dragons won individual events – senior Amanda Recor (Lancaster) won vault with a 9.50, senior Sarah Nadrowski (Buffalo/Kenmore East) was the uneven bars winner with a career-high 9.625 and junior Courtney Mangini (Commack) captured floor exercise with a 9.80.

Cortland excelled on vault and floor exercise, but West Chester earned the victory by its wins on uneven bars and balance beam. On vault, Cortland claimed five of the top six places. In addition to Recor's win, senior Annelise Hoffman (Pine Plains/Stissing Mountain) was third (9.40), freshman Maddy Scozzie (Ashburn, VA/Broad Run) and freshman Meghan Goyden (Endwell/Maine-Endwell) tied for fourth (9.35) and Nadrowski finished sixth (9.325).

The Red Dragons swept the first four places on floor with Mangini's win, a second-place 9.725 by Recor that tied her career high, and third-place scores of 9.675 by both sophomore Allie Osmundsen (Hicksville) and Nadrowski. Osmundsen set a career high on floor with her effort.

Recor also posted Cortland's top balance beam score with a third-place 9.50. Nadrowski finished sixth on beam with an 8.975 and was the lone all-around competitor with a total score of 37.60.

For West Chester, Kaley LaFleur won beam with a 9.65, followed by Lindsay Knapp in second with a 9.55. Melissa Prisco placed second on vault (9.475) and fourth on uneven bars (9.25), Meghan Brannon was second on bars (9.55) and Karen Laskaris finished third on bars (9.525).

Cortland will travel to Division I Cornell University for a dual meet on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 1 p.m.
